If you are interested in giving a talk at the EMO session, we offer you two different options: either you submit a full paper to the planned Special Issue on EMO in the European Journal of Operational Research until January 31, 2013 February 12, 2013 or you simply submit an abstract by the same deadline. Whereas the full paper submission will allow to travel to Málaga with the certainty of a peer-reviewed journal publication, the abstract submission will allow to give a talk but does not guarantee a publication as no conference proceedings will be published. It has been pointed out that our formulation was not fully clear. Please consider the following, more precise statements:

The acceptance of the talk at the MCDM'2013 conference mainly depends on the submitted abstract. The acceptance of the journal paper is finally independent of the MCDM'2013 conference and the acceptance of the abstract. A paper gets published in the associated special issue only after a thorough reviewing process. Since a thorough reviewing process cannot be finished within the first two weeks after submission, no acceptance notification for the full paper will be send on or before the official abstract notification deadline on February 28, 2013. However, the plan is still to finish the first round of reviews for the submitted journal papers before the MCDM'2013 conference.

Full Paper Submission for Special Issue

Full papers that are submitted to the EMO session and that are accepted after a peer-review process with at least three different reviewers will be published in an accompanying Special Issue on EMO in the European Journal of Operational Research. Note that the submitted papers should contain unpublished material that is also not under review elsewhere. For formatting information and further instructions, please see the author guidelines of Elsevier and download the LaTeX article style file from the Quickguide.

The submission deadline for the full papers for the EMO session is January 31, 2013 February 12, 2013. Please note that you can also submit a paper for the special issue later (planned submission deadline: end of September 2013) but then, your paper cannot be considered for the EMO session at the MCDM conference. In this case, we suggest to submit your abstract until January 31, 2013 February 12, 2013 as described below and the full paper later.

Full papers should be submitted via the online submission system of the European Journal of Operational Research. Do not forget to choose "EMO Special Issue" as article type when you submit your paper. Please send, in addition, a PDF of the submitted paper to at least one of the guest editors directly (preferably to Dimo Brockhoff).

More details on the Special Issue page or in the official Call for Papers.

Abstract Submission

Besides the full paper submission, we also invite submissions as proposals for a talk in form of a short abstract of maximally 2000 characters. The talks should present recent research ideas and it is appreciated if they identify open questions to foster discussions rather than showing finalized results. Note that, though an accepted abstract corresponds to a talk during the EMO session, no publication is associated to it as no conference proceedings will be published.

The submission deadline for the extended abstracts is also January 31, 2013 February 12, 2013 like for the abstract submission of all other MCDM'2013 sessions. Please send your abstract directly to one of the organizers by e-mail (preferably to Dimo Brockhoff). Please do not use the official submission system of the MCDM'2013 conference as submitted abstracts cannot be directly associated to the EMO session. After the reviewing process, however, authors of accepted abstracts will receive an official invitation to submit their final abstracts via the MCDM'2013 submission system .
